JACKSONVILLE, FL, Nov. 1, 2026 — A 17-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man were killed and 11 other people were hurt in two unrelated shootings at Halloween parties early Sunday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said on X.

Arlington Expressway: Around 1:45 a.m., officers went to the 6200 block of Arlington Expressway in the Regency area and found the 17-year-old with a gunshot wound; she died. Officers found a second person who'd been shot, and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue took that person to a hospital. A third person went to a hospital on their own. The Sheriff's Office says the surviving victims are expected to recover.

People were waiting in line to get into a Halloween party when a fight broke out and led to gunfire, according to the Sheriff's Office. It says three victims were unintended targets who weren't involved in the fight, and it believes at least two gunmen, both wearing dark clothing, opened fire.

West 5th Street: Around 3:50 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting at a house on West 5th Street and found a 20-year-old man who'd been shot; he died at a hospital. Nine other people, ages 15 to 25, went to hospitals on their own, bringing the number of people shot there to 10. One has life-threatening injuries, and the other eight don't, the Sheriff's Office says. Investigators learned a fight at a house party led to two rounds of gunfire. The agency says it doesn't have suspect information.

"I am saddened by the heinous acts of violence our community endured this weekend," Sheriff T.K. Waters said. "My heart goes out to the victims of these senseless acts and the many others impacted. We will work tirelessly to bring these criminals to justice and accountability. Violence has no place in Jacksonville."
