ORLANDO, FL, Oct. 30, 2026 — A federal jury found Peter Holly, 39, guilty of making a false claim of U.S. citizenship to register to vote and of voting by an alien, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced.
According to court records cited in the release, Holly is a Slovakian national and lawful permanent resident, not a U.S. citizen, so he's ineligible to vote. Prosecutors say he registered online in July 2024, claiming to be a citizen, and voted in a federal election on Oct. 27, 2024. During an interview with Homeland Security Investigations, Holly admitted registering and voting, the release says.
Holly, indicted Jan. 28, 2026, faces up to five years in federal prison. A sentencing date hasn't been set. Homeland Security Investigations and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigated the case.
Only U.S. citizens may vote in federal elections. Questions about your registration go to your county supervisor of elections.
