NEW YORK, Oct. 30, 2026 — A federal judge in Brooklyn sentenced Catalina Corona, 62, of Queens, to 48 months in prison for wire fraud and ordered $9.6 million in forfeiture, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York announced. The FBI shared the case Friday.

Prosecutors say Corona "repeatedly deposited hundreds of checks written out to cash—made payable to herself—from the Victims' bank accounts without their knowledge or consent." They say she spent about $1,117,000 at Louis Vuitton, nearly $300,000 at Gucci, about $125,500 at Cartier and about $305,000 at Apple, and investigators estimated "there were over 300 luxury items stashed in the units."

"Our Office will vigorously prosecute those who exploit vulnerable elderly victims for personal gain," said U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella, Jr.
