MIAMI, Oct. 31, 2026 — A Tampa pharmacist and pharmacy owner was sentenced Thursday to 90 months in federal prison for illegally dispensing oxycodone 30mg pills to customers who had no medical need for them, the Justice Department announced Friday.
Olushola Yusuf, 60, "dispensed at least 335,351 pills of oxycodone 30mg during the conspiracy," the department says. She owned Boots LLC, doing business as Striderite, in Margate, and Chans Pharmacy Plus in Pembroke Pines.
According to the release, Yusuf "charged customers approximately 10 times the typical cost of the drug and required payment from them in cash." Some customers paid as much as $1,300 a month, and some were drug dealers picking up pills for dozens of absent patients. Witnesses testified that she "kept the doors to her pharmacies locked during business hours," the department says, and continued "even after repeated warnings from her employees and the DEA."
A jury convicted Yusuf in July of conspiracy to illegally distribute drugs and five counts of illegal drug distribution. Co-defendant Saman Gimenez pleaded guilty to conspiracy and is scheduled to be sentenced later this year. The DEA, FBI and HHS Office of Inspector General investigated.
