ORLANDO, FL, Oct. 28, 2026 —

Florida law enforcement agencies spent Wednesday saying thank you to their own as the country marked National First Responders Day.
The Orlando Police Department shared photos of its officers, including bike and motor units, and said "every role plays an important part in keeping Orlando safe" (@OrlandoPolice).
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office thanked its deputies, dispatchers, partner agencies and their families: "Behind every badge, radio, and uniform is someone who chose to serve." (@HCSOSheriff). The Tampa Police Department marked the day with a video and a message to its officers: "We're proud of our men and women who serve with heart, look out for neighbors, and answer the call when it matters most." (@TampaPD).
In Orange County, the Sheriff's Office used the day to spotlight some of its newest team members: graduates of its 911 Academy who finished last month and are now in on-the-job training to become Certified Emergency Communications Specialists (@OrangeCoSheriff).

If someone who answers the call has helped you or your family, today's a good day to tell them.
