MELBOURNE, FL, Nov. 3, 2026 — Part of St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park, near the Brevard-Indian River county line, has washed out after the recent rains, Brevard County Emergency Management said Tuesday afternoon.
In a 3:30 p.m. update on X, the county said the washout is "increasing water entering the St. Sebastian River." It added: "There is no imminent threat of flooding at this time. However, residents in the area should remain alert, monitor conditions and be prepared to take action if conditions change."
The warning: The National Weather Service in Melbourne's flood warning for southeastern Brevard, eastern Indian River, northeastern Martin and St. Lucie counties stays in effect until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Weather Service says it "will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas."
Report damage: If your home was damaged or flooded, the county is asking residents to fill out its damage reporting form so emergency management can "assess community impacts and guide recovery efforts," it said. Have your property address, name and photos of the damage ready. The county notes the form "is not an application for assistance."
Launchpad will keep checking on the river and the county's updates.
