TAMPA, Oct. 27, 2026 —

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office celebrated a new class of resident volunteers Tuesday night.

"Tonight, we celebrated the 2026 class and the neighbors who chose to give their time to keep Hillsborough County safe," the agency wrote in a post on its X account Tuesday evening, congratulating its "newest Volunteer Citizen Patrol graduates."

According to the Sheriff's Office, the graduates trained in "crime prevention, first aid, and more," and "now have the knowledge and skills to serve as an extra set of eyes and ears in our community." The post closed with "Welcome to #teamHCSO!" and included photos from the ceremony.

The agency did not say in the post how many people graduated. Residents interested in volunteering can find contact information on the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office website.

That's the news straight from the source, and a reminder that neighbors still show up for each other.
