TALLAHASSEE, FL, Nov. 5, 2026 — Florida drivers are paying a little less for regular gasoline than they did a week ago, according to AAA's daily state averages dated Nov. 5, 2026.
AAA listed Florida's current regular average at $3.8344 a gallon. Yesterday's average was $3.8364. A week ago it was $3.9629. A month ago it was $4.0603. A year ago, before this year's energy spike, regular averaged $2.9183 in Florida, AAA's table shows.
Mid-grade averaged $4.3195, premium $4.6626 and diesel $5.9413 on Nov. 5. Diesel is down from $5.9602 yesterday and $6.0560 a week ago, but still far above the year-ago diesel average of $3.6028. AAA's table lists Florida's highest recorded diesel average at $6.3492 on Sept. 18, 2026 — a reminder of how expensive on-road diesel got during the Iran conflict's price spike.
How Florida compares with the U.S.
AAA's national regular average on Nov. 5 was $4.1003, so Florida sits about 27 cents below the U.S. figure. That gap matters for household budgets along I-4, I-75 and the Turnpike, where commuting and freight costs stack quickly.
Metro snapshots (regular, Nov. 5)
AAA's Florida metro table included:
- Pensacola: $3.6017 (among the lowest major metros listed)
- Panama City: $3.6042
- Crestview–Fort Walton Beach: $3.6429
- Melbourne–Titusville: $3.7534
- Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater: $3.8180
- Orlando: $3.8311
- Jacksonville: $3.8137
- Miami: $3.8944
- Fort Lauderdale: $3.8950
- Gainesville: $3.9557
- West Palm Beach–Boca Raton: $3.9915 (highest large-metro average on the table)
Daytona Beach was $3.8529, Naples $3.9025 and Port St. Lucie $3.7839. Exact station prices vary; AAA averages are daily surveys, not a promise at every pump.
Bradenton–Sarasota–Venice averaged $3.8028, Lakeland–Winter Haven $3.8233 and The Villages $3.7749, AAA reported. On the Treasure Coast, Sebastian–Vero Beach was $3.7735 and Sebring $3.7849. Those metros sit below the state average even after a week of declines from levels near $3.90–$4.10.
Diesel's statewide average of $5.9413 remains more than $2 above the year-ago diesel figure. AAA's highest recorded Florida diesel average, $6.3492 on Sept. 18, 2026, shows how far prices climbed during the Iran-war spike before this week's retreat. Fleet managers and farmers who bought diesel near that peak are the ones seeing the clearest week-over-week relief in AAA's survey, even if the absolute price is still historically high for Florida.
Why prices are easing
Wholesale crude and product prices fell sharply after Democrats won control of Congress, as traders bet on a lower chance of further Middle East escalation. Launchpad's Wednesday markets story reported oil's post-election drop and the stock rally that accompanied it. Pump prices usually lag wholesale moves by days, which matches AAA's pattern of a small one-day dip and a clearer week-over-week decline.
Florida's year-ago regular average near $2.92 shows how much of the 2026 increase is still baked into the price even after this week's relief. Households that budgeted for $4-plus gallons in October are seeing some of that pressure ease; diesel users — farms, fleets, contractors recovering from floods — are not back to pre-spike levels.
What to watch
AAA updates state and metro averages daily at gasprices.aaa.com. If crude keeps falling, Florida's regular average could drift further below $3.80; a renewed geopolitics shock could reverse it. For now, the Nov. 5 survey is a soft landing from October's highs, not a return to 2025 prices.
