PALM BAY, Fla., Oct. 27, 2026 —
Florida Insurance Commissioner Mike Yaworsky has approved auto insurance rate decreases for several USAA Group programs, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) announced on Oct. 26.
What was approved
According to OIR, the decreases average 7% across the USAA programs and apply to more than 498,000 policies. The office says the average change for policyholders ranges from a 0.4% decrease to an 11.2% decrease, so some customers may see cuts larger than the 7% average.
OIR says USAA's business is most concentrated in three counties, where the average changes are:
- Brevard County: 5.8% decrease
- Escambia County: 8% decrease
- Okaloosa County: 8.4% decrease
The release does not say when the new rates take effect for individual policies.
Earlier reductions
OIR says USAA provided nearly $1 billion in rate reductions and direct member returns to its Florida members from December 2025 to July 2026, including a $500 million dividend to about 830,000 members.
The wider auto market
The office also reported that, as of this fall, Florida's five largest auto insurance groups show a 2026 indicated rate change of -12.6%, covering 81% of the state's auto market. OIR says Florida's personal auto liability loss ratio was 52.5% in 2025, which it calls the lowest in the nation and the lowest for Florida in 15 years.
Commissioner Yaworsky said in the release that OIR is "constantly reaching out to insurers to inquire about rate relief."
USAA policyholders with questions about their own premium can contact the company. Questions for the regulator can go to the OIR Communications Office at (850) 413-2515, the contact number listed on the release.
