WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2026 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced more than $27 million in additional Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grants and $50 million more in National School Lunch Program equipment grants on Friday, according to a USDA release.
"Every child deserves real, nutritious food grown by American farmers and ranchers on their lunch tray, and that is exactly what Harvest to Hallways delivers," Agriculture Secretary Brooke L. Rollins said.
The farm to school money brings 2026 support to "more than $47 million across 149 projects nationwide, representing the largest annual investment in the program's history," the department says. The equipment grants go to state agencies as non-competitive funding for "cold storage, stoves, and other modern equipment."
Florida's school meal programs are run by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which administers the National School Lunch Program in the state.
