MELBOURNE, FL, Nov. 2, 2026 —

About one in five U.S. teens say they use TikTok or YouTube "almost constantly," and 64% say they use AI chatbots, including about 3 in 10 who do so daily, according to the Pew Research Center.

Pew surveyed 1,458 U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 online from Sept. 25 to Oct. 9, 2025, through Ipsos. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.3 percentage points, according to the survey's topline.

Which apps teens use

Roughly nine in 10 teens say they've ever used YouTube, Pew found. About six in 10 or more use TikTok and Instagram, and 55% use Snapchat. Fewer use Facebook (31%) and WhatsApp (24%).

Daily use follows the same order. About three-quarters of teens use YouTube every day, 61% use TikTok daily and 55% use Instagram daily. Just under half (46%) visit Snapchat every day, and 20% say the same of Facebook.

Who's on "almost constantly"

The share of teens on TikTok almost constantly rose to 21% from 16% in 2022, Pew said. Across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook, 36% of teens use at least one almost constantly.

Pew's breakdown shows 24% of girls and 17% of boys say they're on TikTok almost constantly. Among Black teens it's 37%, among Hispanic teens 34% and among White teens 10%.

Online overall

Nearly all teens (97%) use the internet daily, including 40% who say they're online almost constantly. That's down from 46% in 2024, according to the topline.
