KEY WEST, FL, Oct. 31, 2026 — The National Weather Service in Key West has extended its coastal flood warning for the Upper and Middle Florida Keys until early Sunday, according to a coastal hazard message issued at 3:46 a.m. Saturday.
The warning calls for "Major saltwater flooding." "Numerous roads may be closed," it says. "Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated."
For the Lower Keys, the agency cancelled the warning and replaced it with a coastal flood advisory until 4 a.m. Sunday. "Saltwater flooding of low elevation streets and lots is expected," the advisory says. "Some storm drains will overflow, and some seawalls and docks will be overtopped."
The Weather Service told drivers: "Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth." It also warned that "persistent puddles around the times of high tide are almost certain to contain a mix of saltwater," which can damage vehicles.
